I believe abstinence is the best option. Sexual relations have intensely spiritual implications like things like soul ties, oneness with the other, etc. When relationships are broken and the two have had sexual relations, there can be MUCH more difficulty in healing from the break-up than normal, and this could potentially influence to demonic manifestations or spurs of depression/self-hate, although it doesn’t have to. I believe abstinence is best on the basis of the spiritual health and strength of both individuals, not as a legalistic, “do this or you’ll burn in hell” basis. I’ll leave with this:

“Walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16
