God Loves Satan: Addendum
Before you read this, please read the original post of which this is an extension: http://pressingheaven.tumblr.com/post/18148934323/god-loves-satan
I think it is also important to recognize two things: Jesus’s mercy on demons (Mark 5:9, Luke 8:30) and that God may call Satan Satan, but He sees him as Lucifer—his original created nature.
The latter is largely dealt with in the original post, but the former is quite intriguing. The collection of demons, Legion, who possessed a man, pleaded with Jesus to send them into pigs, rather than wherever else they would (which is not stated). Jesus complied. The pigs proceeded to run into a body of water and drown themselves. Although Jesus is not “in cahoots” with them, I believe this demonstrates God’s mercy extended to demons.
Jesus was Never motivated out of hate or frustration. He walked by the Spirit and was motivated by love because He is Love, no matter the subject or circumstance.
God bless :)

Lucifer is the Latin word for “morning star”, not a specific name. The Isaiah passage is referring to the Babylonian King who would be humbled, though the passage is tongue-in-cheek. The real morning star is Jesus, who would never be cast down.
